To develop our proposals for the NWCC project we are undertaking a variety of environmental and engineering surveys to inform the decisions we need to make.
We are also contacting landowners and tenants with an interest in land that might be affected by the new connection so we can confirm their interests. It is important to us that we are able to communicate the progress of the project with interested parties and to gather any comments or feedback on our proposals.
We have appointed Mouchel Consulting to identify and reference all parties that own or have an interest in land that might be affected by the project. In some cases we may need to discuss securing access to your land so we can carry out more detailed on-the-ground studies. Please be assured that National Grid and its contractors will not enter any land until the appropriate consent has been secured.
In 2011 National Grid published the process it will use for obtaining land rights for all new assets. This process, the Land Rights Strategy, has been applied to all new electricity and gas transmission assets, Carbon Capture and Storage and interconnector projects. Please note that the Land Rights Strategy is currently under review, however it will continue to apply to all current projects until further notification.
We have appointed land agents Dalcour Maclaren and Fisher German to provide support to Mouchel Consulting in the land referencing process, to arrange survey access with landowners and to deal with all land rights issues.
